Students book: Artistic Dialogue
18/06/1998 · por Centro Educacional Leonardo da Vinci

In 1996, the Text Production teacher from Centro Educacional Leonardo da Vinci, Maria Auxiliadora S. C. Freire, invited senior high school students to participate on a project that would result from the union between the painting and the literature.

Expressive artists pictures should be selected and, inspired by those works, the students would create stories.

Four texts were produced and illustrations were added to them, creating a book that carries a very suggestive title, given by the students themselves:

ARTISTIC DIALOGUE.

The first text, entitled Angels and demons, was written by students Sandro, Giuliano, Fernando and Cláudio, and has illustrations by painter Pieter Bruegel. The writers and the illustrators biographies are contained in the book.

The text tells the story of a small villa named Vitorius, where there was plenty of happiness. However, the Master of Evil sent armies of bestial creatures to annihilate the power of God. Great part of the population was decimated and total chaos settled. But God, Lord of the Order and Justice, sent His light through a youth who would become the Messiah, bringing back hope and happiness to the people of Vitorius.

The second text was entitled Chrysanthemums, written by students Aline, Daniella, Marcela, Karla and Natalia, and illustrated by painter Pierre-Augustine Renoir. Cristine Marie tells the story of her mother, Edith, promised to marry count Pierre. But Edith loved Thomas, a recently-graduate doctor, with a humble past. She starts meeting Thomas secretly, living the bitterness of an impossible love. Pierre, being aware of the stealthy encounters, decides for revenge and hires Henriot, a feared murderer from France, to kill Thomas. One day, the newspaper Figaro publishes: "Last night a body was found on the banks of river Seine; it was identified as young doctor Thomas D’Anville".

The third text, Requiem for violin, written by students Caetano, Juliana, Rovena, Letícia, Luiz Felipe, Daniella, had as illustrator painter Pablo Picasso. On the day of the city party, the young violinist used to transform himself in a bullfighter. His daughter, Bárbara, executing the promise of the previous year, frees the white pigeon, which lands on the three sisters house, that are getting ready to the party. The circus arrives, the band plays, gewgaws are sold. Leandro, the shy pharmacy student, invited Heloisa to dance. The bull was loosened and the bullfighter entered with green and yellow clothes. He held the red cloth, looked in the eyes of the animal and made it to pass to its side-by-side without touching him. The bull looked at him with fury...

The fourth text, My champion life, was written by students Antônio José, Renata, Juliana and Nadja, with illustrations by Norman Rockwell. It is about a child that dreamed of being a great professional baseball player. One day he had a little problem: he would need to wear glasses. Once he could not play anymore, he wanted to be good, the best in the school. He graduated, making his parents proud. After that, he could play again and decided to do muscular activity to be in form and to attract girls. In the first game, it was almost in the reserve all of the time. It started to rain, when he entered playing as a shooter and later as a beater, winning the championship.
