Students help in the organization of the library
14/09/1998 · por Sergio Denicoli

The students from Centro Educacional Leonardo da Vinci that did not return the books borrowed from the library in the due time, can pay the fine working in that department. The students perform simple functions, such as selecting important news in the newspapers (clipping), organizing the files and reading some books to do a summary of the works.

This initiative seeks "to show the students that an irresponsible act can be paid with the responsibility of his/her work ", says Denize, the Library Coordinator.

The students "pay their debts" during the breaks. Sávio, 4th grade, Camila, Rafaela and Lorena, from 3rd grade, have approved the decision of the school. "We learn more", says Camila (picture below). As for Lorena, the work becomes a pleasure. "I like to read. I adore action books and humor. To work at the Library means having a good time. "

The students liked this initiative so much that are already offering themselves to help, even without owing any fine. "If it is needed, we will help ", they affirm.

In the file infantile works, romances, encyclopedias, dictionaries and didactic books can be found. In the video club, that is also located inside the library, there are collections of History, Science, Geography, Music, cartoons, entertainment movies and others.

Only in the first semester of this year, 10.150 books and 7.738 videos were rented.

"Se for preciso, a gente vai ajudar", afirmam.
