A new space for music at Da Vinci

The CENTRO EDUCACIONAL LEONARDO DA VINCI, in believing that music is one of the languages that facilitates the development of the human’s capacity for expression, has begun initiating several musical activities inside the school. Following up the work began by the workshop in music in 1998 and 1999, and desiring to enlarge and expand its facilities, a new space, called the "MUSICAL CENTER," was created with a wider and better infrastructure, that has as its objective: to give the students, as well as the whole LEONARDO DA VINCI community ( parents, siblings, teachers, and employees, etc.), the opportunity of learning to play a musical instrument.

The classes of the MUSICAL CENTER DA VINCI are to be given as hourly extra classes and students are free to choose the musical instrument of their individual choice from: piano, keyboard, guitar, violin, traverse flute, trumpet, clarinet, saxophone or accordion. In addition to the musical instrument classes, the MUSICAL CENTER DA VINCI is also offering a class entitled " Foundations of Music." This class is a chance for the student to come into contact with several other aspects of music which will include such subjects as: the fundamental concepts of musical language, historic elements of music, musical appreciation, and applied technology of music.

The study of a musical instrument contributes to the development of several different abilities of the individual, collectively, such as: concentration; the execution technique; the discipline for studying; and the auditory perception. The opportunity for jointly playing a musical instrument in a group environment can be, not only for the development of musical thought, but for the formation of positive attitudes created in collective work situations.



The pleasure in playing an instrument ( as speaking), like one of the great instrumentalists, is also accessible to the small musician. Children are enchanted by different sounds, coming from this or that, whatever origin......as they begin their journey into the universal world of music. For the young student, it is the opportunity to translate emotions into sound.

Music: Art and Language. Sounds and Silences are the raw materials of Beauty. Sounds and silences like elements of human expression. From instrumental music to the songs, from Bach to Chico Buarque de Holanda, from Villa-Lobos to Caetano Veloso, from Wagner to the Beatles, the MUSICAL CENTER DA VINCI intends to be a space for music, or better, a center for music where understanding the diversity of the world and Brazilian musical expression can flourish.
