Social expansion outside the classroom

Because children learn from their peers as they do from the planned curriculum, one way to capitalize on this natural phenomenon is to utilize resources of other people and places in the community. Sometimes teachers and parents forget that some of the most significant learning experiences take place neither in the classroom nor mediated by professional educators. You would only have to think back to your own learning experiences that had the most impact to recall that most of them occurred on the playground, in the lunchroom, or during field trips. Often these were lessons about sharing, friendship, and loyalty.





Infantil IV’s doors to the classroom were further opened recently by taking a field trip to a local dairy farm. For some students, the bus ride through the community alone was an eye-opening experience. For others, the field trip brought a completely new sensual experience of sounds, sights, smells, and tastes. For teachers, the opportunity to have the children’s curiosity fostered and fulfilled with hands-on contact with live animals was instrumental. This purposeful endeavor demonstrates Centro Educacional Leonardo da Vinci’s continual adaptation and devotion to the enrichment of the intricacies of childhood development.
