Musical Bands

Aiming the improvement of our students on musical appreciation, instruments and musical groups, in April 16th 1998 our Music Workshop (named "Maurício de Oliveira", after the famous brazilian guitar player), received the Brazilian Army Band. With broad and up-to-date repertoire, they performed their presentation during school’s afternoon breaks, in one of our sport courts. The students applauded and they were very excited when the drums began to "puxar" (play) a samba.



On the day after, April 17th 1998, we received the SESI (Social Service of the Industry) Band, formed by students, being the youngest player only 10 years old. Although the students are very young, their performance was very pretty and cheerful. They executed Brazilian music as well as foreign music, such as " Love is a many splendored thing ".



As the SESI Band is formed by students, they have to live with the fact of every year having to say good-bye to some of their band partners, as they complete their high school. The oldest leave and the youngest, non experienced ones, come into the group. If a graduate student wishes to continue on the band, he is allowed to do so.



Those Bands are examples of such organizations that besides accomplishing their specific mission, also offer other services to the community.



Our gratefulness to the musicians that integrate the bands, to the Army and to SESI, that provided such good moments to us.
