As technology grows and changes in the modern world, so does its need inside the classroom. Three and four year olds are developmentally ready to explore computers, and computer class can be considered a valuable activity for learning. Here at Leonardo, our students have the opportunity to use a program called E-Blocks. Most pre-schoolers learn better when they can actually manipulate concepts and play with them, so this software is perfect for the pre-k classroom. By selecting actual physical blocks that coordinate with each activity, the children play and learn through matching blocks with characters and numbers and use the blocks to simulate patterns. E-Blocks allow our students to constantly practice multiple concepts including one to one correspondence, classification and patterns.
The activities and games that this software incorporates are designed to stimulate cooperative play and learning among children since the software comes with a hardware panel that can be used by four to six children at the same time. Children work together to respond to the stimuli and questions presented by different levels and place the blocks in the sensory panel to form their answers. The program helps children understand the importance of taking care of classroom materials, as well as working individually and in groups. The program available for our students helps reinforce the areas of fine motor development, cognitive skills and growth, eye-hand coordination, pre-mathematical skills, language development and comprehension. What could be a better way to learn than through play?
