The time has arrived for our curriculum projects to begin! With a focus of incorporating science into the Bilingual English curriculum, a project of The Fives Senses was chosen. The five senses we will be looking at in detail are those of Sight, Sound, Smell, Touch and Taste. The objective is to enhance the children´s awareness and knowledge about how they experience the world through these very senses. As a teacher, I am excited by the possibilities and opportunities this project provides for hands on learning. Experiments, activities, three dimensional projects, and interaction will be the principal tools for their learning.
Luckily, within our surroundings at Leonardo Da Vinci, we are provided with ample opportunity to put our senses to work! I look forward to taking our lessons outside of the classroom to help the children use their senses and learn about their school environment in a more concrete way. Although science and our senses are at the forefront of our focus, I feel this project is also a fantastic opportunity to help the children develop their English Vocabulary and practical speaking ability.
I am happy to say, our projects are already off to a great start. Sight is the first of the senses to be studied, and I am thoroughly enjoying the interpretations the students have been producing of what they see around them.
With May 9th approaching, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank all Mothers for their most fundamental role in their childs learning and development process. Happy Mothers Day!
