As we draw ever closer, towards the end of the 2010 academic year (OK, only a half year for me) at Leonardo Da Vinci, there is a real sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, from both the children and teachers alike..(did somebody say Party??). The children of both Infantil II, and the rest of Infantil are really demonstrating an extra element of maturity as they prepare to move up a grade. Nowadays, the children of Infantil II are strolling into the classroom with only a mere glance and a quick wave goodbye to Mum and Dad, whereas only a few weeks ago, they were demonstrating the rapid development of their motor skills by clinging on to Mum's leg for that extra hug before class. Even I, after a short time with them, have noticed them grow up so fast!
During the second semester, our main project has concentrated on animals, with three in particular and with only one week left of activities to complete before preparing the folders to go home, I can already sense that the smiles on your faces whilst going through the folders will be as big as 'Spirit's' the name of a horse who the children absolutely adored and the first project animal we concentrated on. The horse activities galloped away to become a great success, with even the final hurdle being the children taking a seat on a real horse saddle with stirrups and reins (thank you Roxanne). The shark activities also went, erm, swimmingly well which we FINished a couple of weeks ago after a few minor teething problems. Our caterpillar activities have crawled to an end now and I think that it is very appropriate, that in the final week we are concentrating on the butterfly coming out of the cocoon being this great new beautiful and mature creature, capable of flapping away and reaching dizzy heights. I am very proud with what the children of Infantil II have achieved during my time at Leonardo Da Vinci. It's been tough for the children and me but I think now, we have really excelled all of my expectations and I feel, they are now ready to come out of the cocoon that is Infantil II and fly away upstairs, to Infantil III and the big boys and girls learn.
Congratulations Infantil II.
